Long time no blog

Well it has been a long time since I put anything down in this blog. I either haven't felt like it or just put up latest happenings on Facebook. Well there isn't anything happening around here real exciting, work and adjusting to the new house is about all there is.

Right after I moved into the house, I found a leak from the upstairs bathroom down into the downstairs bathroom that turned into a real pain to fix. There is a warranty on the repairs they made for 1 year from date of purchase. I read the instructions on what to do, followed them and didn't hear back from the construction company for over a month. It was only when the broker that helped me get the house called the realty company I bought it from and told I'd be contacting the BBB as well as the government agency that paid them and told them I was being blown off did I get any response. So they finally got on the ball and sent a plumber to find the source of the leak which he thought was the spout in the bathtub. When you turned it on and started the shower you could see a stream of water running down the wall, turned out to be a bad O ring in the spout. What he didn't do was cut a hole in the ruined ceiling in the downstairs bathroom to make sure nothing else was leaking, which there was. After they installed all new dry wall you could see there was still a leak from some where and that was the toilet. There is a clamp that's used from the toilet to the 3" pipe below it and it wasn't tightened down at all. So each flush and water would run out of it and all over the ceiling below. It's all fixed now though and I've been checking all week and don't see any signs of a leak.

My race car didn't end the season very well either. I discovered a problem at the Labor day race and had to park it for most of Sept. When racing started up again I thought I had the problem fixed but the car just ran slower and slower so I parked it and I'm taking the engine out to make sure there's nothing wrong there. What happened was the car went from running 11.40's to 11.90's, 5 tenth's of a second lost somewhere. If the motor is fine, which I think it is, then the torque converter in the transmission has broken. I was planning on replacing it if possible next year because it wasn't right for this engine. I just need to find the motivation to go out in that cold garage and get to work on it, lol.

The weather here the last couple of weeks has been cold and snowy. We had a storm a week ago that dropped about 8 inches of wet heavy snow that broke some branches on my tree in the front yard. It actually broke branches on trees all over town, some pretty big ones too, but the one's on my tree weren't that big.

Well that's about all from here, have a good day!

Latest happenings for me

There have been a few changes for me in the last couple of weeks, both at work and play. At work we have a process called 'bidding' when you want to change jobs. You actually bid for a job position and the one with the most seniority is awarded the job. Well in a fit of anger I bid a job to the Thornton post office and got it so I've been there for the last 3 weeks now, 5am to 2pm with sunday/wednesday days off. Well I get over there and the first thing they tell me is there are too many clerks there now, the bid shouldn't have been posted, they are going to re-post all but two of the bids and the clerks will have to re-bid their jobs. So believe it or not with over 24 years of seniority I was the low man on the seniority list so I would have been out of luck and sent back to the GMF working graveyard shift with crappy days off.

Now I say I bid this in anger because I knew some of this before hand, but in a fit of anger at my soon to be ex-wife and a few other things I bid on it at the last minute and actually got it. So what I did was when my old job came back up for bidding I bid on that right away and have been told I'm the senior bidder on that one. That means I'll be going to back to my old job at the Capitol Hill post office with Saturday/Sunday off 10am to 7pm. It's a good thing because over there my seniority level is about middle of the group so I'm better protected from having my job abolished.

The other good thing is the race car is running, I have almost all of the updates I needed to have done finished with just a couple of things left to do. The major thing I have to do is buy a truck to haul the trailer with as I had to sell the one I had to pay bills for the divorce.

An update on that is I have had all the paperwork signed and notarized on my part and have given them to the ex for her to sign. She has been dragging her feet for some reason so it's all in her hands now and if she screws around and this doesn't happen I'll be suing her for everything she owns.

So that's it from here, hope all is well your at.

Race season is near!!

The new racing season is getting very close now! I have signed the car up for a private test session on March 25 where I'm going to try and get in as many runs as possibly can. The first official test and tune is April 9th, then another one April 16-17 and the first race is April 23rd. Finally something to get excited for!! I have a few things to do to the car before March 25th but the biggest hurdle will actually be getting the car to the track since I sold my big truck. My friends have said they'd help get it there so it shouldn't be a problem.

Man I'm getting excited again, winter is ending (I hope sooner, I hate winter), racing is right around the corner and this should be a better year than 2010 was.

Winter's back, I hate winter!

Woke up to gray skies, drizzle and cold temps and had a car show to go to in Golden too. We did go and while it was drizzling/light raining at the house, the sun was out at the car show. Ok so it only lasted about a half an hour but it was out none the less, but then the clouds took over and it was cold again. The car show let out around 2pm and yup that's when the skies cleared and the sun came out and it was nice. I've had to close some windows in the house, thermostat say's it's 66 in the living room and that's cold to me. In the end it sure beat being at work though, just ask the wife, she had to work.

2010 High Altitude Bracket Nationals

It's been a long time coming but I was finally able to race the car with the new 347 and not have it leaking all over the track.

I made 3 runs Friday all in the 11.7 range at 117 mph, the only problem I had was the car bogged real bad on the launch. I thought about the problem and Saturday made an adjustment to the fuel level in the secondary float and it really helped. I made 2 time runs Saturday and the first was a 11.59, the second an 11.65 so the car was running better in the heat we had.

For the first round I had the bad luck of having to race my Phast Phat Racing team member Steve and got lucky and won because he red lit. He had a great day too though, he was picked to run a special money race and won his first round but lost his second when he went to quick.

So on to the second round I go and won that one when my opponent went too quick and I ran closer to my dial, 11.63 on a 11.64 dial in. Now I'm on to the 3rd round and get a car that's a lot quicker than mine so I leave first. I knew when let go of the trans brake button I was late on the light, and sure enough the other guy caught me by about 1000' and won rather easily.

No complaints from me though, all the nights under the car, swearing at it and being frustrated paid off, the car ran great all weekend with no problems.

We have another race next Sunday where I'll be putting some runs on the set up to try and get it a little quicker.
